--Jeanene TimberlakeThe Chicago Board Options Exchange has gained some ground in the tussle for options market share in the last month. The exchange’s trading volumes increased to 31.76% of the total options market, up from 30.81% last month and slightly more than its share in September. The International Securities Exchange lost some of its share, dropping down to 23.05% of total market volume from 26.4% last month. Total options trading volume for November totaled 265,052,803 contracts, a decrease from October’s 330,432,938 contracts. NYSE Arca and Amex continued to attract market share, increasing their volume totals to 13.72% from 12.4% and 9.06% from 8.87%, respectively. Nasdaq OMX Phlx also saw a volume increase to 17.6% from 15.78%. The Nasdaq Options Market’s share of contract transactions decreased slightly from 3.08% in October to 2.92% in November. The Boston Options Exchange also lost slight ground in November, decreasing its volumes to 1.9% from 2.66%.
